Devon’s first Farming, food & nature celebration
Saturday 6th October 2012 - 10am - 4pm at West Town Farm, Ide, Exeter

When and Where

You are invited to a celebration of the work by farmers and food producers doing great things for Devon’s natural environment. There will be discussions, musicians, displays and local food with the hospitality of the farm for free!

Talks include:

  • Rebecca Hosking on how wildlife can increase your farm’s productivity
  • Cath Jeffs on farmers saving cirl buntings
  • Matt Lobley on mapping Devon’s food economy
  • Will Barnard on grass-fed beef, better for people and the environment
  • Rob Wolton on joys & perils of managing a farm for livestock and nature
  • Maggie Watson  on Tapping into tourism through farm wildlife
  • Colin Abel on Dartmoor Forest Common, England’s largest agri-environment agreement? – TBC

Exhibits and activities:

Who is this event for?

If you are a Devon farmer or food producer interested in farming that is both successful as a business and good for the environment then this event is for you!  Children and family are welcome although please bear in mind the day is designed for farmers and will be mostly talks with some activities.

What is this event?

This event is a celebration of the work by farmers and food producers doing great things for Devon’s natural environment.  There will be discussions, musicians, displays and local food with the hospitality of the farm for free!  There will be activities that will get you up and about in between the fascinating talks and discussions.

Who has organised this event?

This one-off experimental pilot celebration event has been sponsored this year by Devon Local Nature Partnership, Devon Wildlife Trust, RSPB and the Centre for Rural Policy Research at Exeter University.  This may change in the future.
